About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Eclipse Version is a story-focused ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that introduces an entirely new region called Soala, along with original lore, characters, and mechanics inspired by later Pokémon generations. The hack blends traditional Pokémon League progression with mystery elements involving illusions, abnormal Pokémon behavior, and legendary Pokémon tied to dreams and nightmares.

This project aims to provide a modernized Pokémon experience within the GBA engine, featuring updated mechanics, a large Pokédex, and narrative-driven gameplay. Some information about later-game content and final completion status is vague or unavailable, as only an early beta has been publicly released.

Story Overview

You begin your journey in Lapis Village, a quiet settlement where your parents run a Mareep farm. Your childhood friend, Anya, has already received a Pokémon from Professor Oak, who recently visited the village. After proving to your parents that you are mature enough to leave home, you set out to become a Pokémon Trainer yourself.

Your personal goal is to follow in your father’s footsteps and join the Ace Trainers, an elite division of the Devon Corporation that operates within the Soala region. To qualify, you must prove your skill by taking on the Pokémon League and growing stronger as a Trainer.

However, Soala is far from peaceful. Wild Pokémon have begun acting violently and erratically for reasons no one can explain. At the same time, a mysterious gang of thieves is causing chaos across towns and cities. Rumors spread of people witnessing mirages, becoming trapped in illusions, or encountering things that don’t seem real.

As your journey unfolds, you discover that these incidents may be connected to deeper forces at work—forces tied to legendary Pokémon such as Darkrai, Cresselia, and the Forces of Nature. Your adventure will challenge not only your strength as a Trainer, but your perception of reality itself, as you work to uncover the truth behind Soala’s unraveling stability.
