About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Crimson is a story-driven sequel saga set in the Johto region, taking place approximately two years after the events of Pokémon Crystal. Rather than acting as a remake, the hack expands Johto’s lore by introducing new legendary Pokémon, altered geography, returning characters from multiple generations, and a renewed Team Rocket threat.

The game focuses heavily on mythology, regional connections, and character-driven storytelling, with gym challenges taking a secondary role to uncovering ancient legends and stopping an artificial legendary Pokémon capable of destroying entire regions.

Story Overview

Two years after Ethan’s journey ended Team Rocket’s ambitions, a new hero rises in Johto. You play as Marvel or Cecelia, the younger sibling of Lyra, now the Gym Leader of New Bark Town. While gym badges exist, your journey prioritizes uncovering Johto’s myths and confronting the rebirth of Team Rocket.

As you travel across Johto—and into regions like Kanto and Sinnoh—you encounter legendary trainers such as Cynthia, Steven Stone, and Kris, all investigating mysteries that link Johto to Hoenn and Sinnoh. Meanwhile, a former Team Rocket grunt orchestrates a third revival of the organization, culminating in the creation of Scarlecture, an artificial legendary Pokémon with catastrophic power.

Your journey will decide the fate of Johto and beyond.
