About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Coral Version is a Game Boy Color ROM hack set in the entirely original Onwa Region, designed to recreate the magic and atmosphere of Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal while modernizing gameplay mechanics.
The 2022 Demo was completely rebuilt from scratch using the Pokémon Polished Crystal engine, introducing smoother performance, modern mechanics like abilities and the Fairy type, and extensive rebalancing. Even players familiar with older demos will find this version to be a significantly new experience.
Story Overview
Welcome to the Onwa Region, a land far removed from Kanto and Johto. Your goal is simple and classic: explore the region, meet its people, earn 8 Onwa League Badges, and challenge the Onwa Pokémon League.
At first glance, the story feels intentionally minimal—very much in the spirit of early-generation Pokémon. However, rumors circulate of a group of ruffians exploiting Pokémon for profit, hinting that things beneath the surface may not be as peaceful as they seem.
The narrative balances classic Pokémon simplicity with subtle intrigue, allowing exploration and discovery to take center stage.
