About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Clover is a large-scale ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that fully transforms the original game into a chaotic, parody-driven experience. Originally started in late 2014 as a simple rework of FireRed, it evolved over several years into a massive total conversion project featuring entirely new regions, characters, music, mechanics, and a complete Fakemon roster.

The hack is set in two original regions, Fochun and the Ebin Isles, both filled with custom routes, towns, side content, and a deeply expanded world structure. What sets Clover apart is its identity as a satirical parody of both Pokémon and internet imageboard culture, specifically 4chan-inspired humor. Because of this, the game is intentionally written with an edgy, comedic, and often controversial tone that is not intended for younger audiences.

Despite its chaotic presentation, Pokémon Clover is also a technically advanced ROM hack, featuring a modernized battle engine, competitive-level AI, and extensive mechanical improvements. It blends humor-driven storytelling with surprisingly deep gameplay systems, making it both a parody experience and a fully functional competitive Pokémon-style game.

With over 100 hours of content and contributions from dozens of developers, Clover stands as one of the most ambitious community-made FireRed overhauls ever created.

Story Overview

You begin your journey as a Pokémon Professor Stump’s Pokédex aide, setting out across the newly discovered regions of Fochun and the Ebin Isles. Along the way, you encounter rivals, Gym Leaders, and a wide variety of strange and unpredictable characters that shape the world’s chaotic tone.

The journey follows a traditional Pokémon structure at its core—traveling across regions, collecting badges, and battling powerful trainers—but everything is heavily reinterpreted through the lens of parody and satire. The world is filled with exaggerated personalities, absurd situations, and unpredictable narrative turns that constantly shift between humor, challenge, and chaos.

As you progress, you uncover deeper connections between regions, face increasingly difficult opponents, and explore a world packed with side quests, secrets, and unexpected events. The combination of structured Pokémon progression with parody storytelling creates a journey that is both familiar and completely unorthodox.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Pokémon Clover a joke hack or a serious game?
A: Both. It’s a parody at heart, but mechanically it’s one of the deepest and hardest Pokémon ROM hacks available.

Q: How long is Pokémon Clover?
A: Around 80–120 hours, depending on playstyle and post-game completion.

Q: Does Clover use real Pokémon?
A: No. All 386 Pokémon are original Fakemon, each with unique designs, stats, and abilities.

Q: Is the difficulty really that high?
A: Yes. Trainers use competitive AI, switching, synergy, and strong movesets. Grinding alone won’t save you.

Q: Is this hack beginner-friendly?
A: Absolutely not. It’s designed for veteran Pokémon players.

Q: Can I Nuzlocke Pokémon Clover?
A: You can try—but Clover is notorious for destroying Nuzlockes.

Q: Does the game include a post-game?
A: Yes. The Ebin Isles function as a massive post-game region with unique challenges.

Q: Which emulator should I use?
A: mGBA or VBA-M are strongly recommended for stability.

Q: Is the content really offensive?
A: Yes. Expect edgy humor, dark jokes, and references that may be offensive to some players.
