About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Clay's Calamity I is the first open-world Pokémon hack set in Kanto. It allows players to explore the region freely, with Gym Leaders as the toughest trainers, and all routes and towns redesigned for an unrestricted experience. Unlike traditional games, rival battles have been removed, and players can choose any starter Pokémon thanks to a provided Master Ball.
This patch was initially a private custom mod, later released publicly due to fan requests after the success of its sequel, Clay's Calamity II.
Story Overview
You play as Clay, a cocky and confident Pokémon Trainer with a singular mission: to challenge and defeat every Gym Leader in Kanto.
Starting with a Magikarp and a Master Ball, Clay aims to sweep through trainers, Gym Leaders, and criminal syndicates alike. The open-world design allows for non-linear progression, meaning the order of Gym battles and major encounters is up to the player.
