About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Excellent Emerald is an enhancement-focused ROM hack that modernizes and refines the classic Emerald experience without radically altering its structure.
While Pokémon Emerald remains one of the most beloved entries in the core series, this project updates mechanics, movepools, stats, encounter tables, and quality-of-life elements to better align with modern Pokémon standards — all while keeping the Hoenn journey intact.
The goal is not to reinvent Emerald, but to polish and rebalance it into a smoother, more flexible experience.

- Complete Hoenn Pokédex Availability: Every Pokémon in the Hoenn Dex can be caught within the region.
- Route Overhauls: Wild encounters — especially in Western Hoenn — have been redesigned to allow stronger and more diverse early-game team options.
- Improved Important Trainers: Rivals, villainous team leaders, and Gym Leaders have more refined and unique team compositions.
- Wadeable Water Tiles: Certain shallow water areas can be walked through to trigger Surf encounters.
- Overworld Touch-Ups: Visual and environmental improvements have been applied across the region.
- HM Improvements: HM moves are significantly more useful in battle, and some optional HM obstacles have been reduced or removed.
- Move Upgrades: Several weaker moves are replaced or upgraded (e.g., Fury Cutter becoming X-Scissor).
- Gen IX Stat Updates: Pokémon stats are updated to modern values (e.g., Butterfree’s Special Attack increased to 90).
- Universal Fly Access (Hoenn Dex): All Flying-type Pokémon in the Hoenn Dex can learn Fly.
