About This ROM Hack

Pokémon TurquoiseBlue & NavyBlue are twin-style ROM hacks that introduce a completely new experience set in the Larmog Region, focusing heavily on original Fakemon designs, expanded exploration, and a reworked battle experience.

The hack aims to deliver a fresh Pokémon journey for players who are tired of standard Pokédex lineups, offering 175 brand-new Fakemon, multiple new environments, and version-exclusive content.

A notable creative direction is the intentional visual style choice: the developer mentions using simple, “paint-like” square tiles to match the Fakemon aesthetic. While not polished, this gives the game a distinct identity.

There is also a strong emphasis on dual-version storytelling, meaning TurquoiseBlue and NavyBlue differ not only in Pokémon but also in plot elements, towns, trainers, and legendaries.

Story Overview

The adventure takes place in the Larmog Region, a beautiful land divided into two halves by the vast Larmogian Sea. The region is rich in legends, many of which trace back 3,000 years to the reign of the 35th and final King of Larmog.

In an attempt to strengthen his kingdom, the king awakened a Legendary Pokémon. Although they initially became allies, the king soon sought to exploit the Pokémon’s immense power for selfish reasons. This imbalance summoned a second Legendary Pokémon, leading to a devastating battle that destroyed the royal castle and nearly wiped out the entire region.

After Larmog was rebuilt, people began to view Pokémon as powerful beings rather than servants, giving rise to Pokémon battles as they are known today. Unknown to most, the king survived the catastrophe, saved at the last moment by the Legendary Pokémon. He has lived for centuries, searching for a way to reunite with it and rewrite history by preventing the castle’s fall—an act that would erase Pokémon battles altogether.

In the present day, you play as a 12-year-old trainer living with your professor father, your mother, and your twin rival. After receiving your first Pokémon, you set out to explore Larmog, only to become entangled in an ancient conflict that threatens the future of the entire region.
