About This ROM Hack

Pokémon PewterWhite and Pokémon ObsidianBlack are paired ROM hacks, inspired by official dual-version Pokémon releases. These projects represent the developer’s first serious attempt at creating a full Pokémon experience, featuring a custom region, modern mechanics, narrative depth, and personality-driven gameplay.

The hacks aim to modernize classic FireRed gameplay with Generation IV–V Pokémon, Fairy type, Physical/Special split, reusable TMs, and a strong focus on immersion, humor, and player interaction. While still in alpha development, both versions already showcase a unique identity and ambitious long-term plans.

Story Overview

You play as a 10-year-old boy who has just received his Pokémon License, beginning his journey through the mysterious Bosha Region.

As you travel across towns and routes, you will:

  • Encounter strange and memorable characters
  • Uncover hidden mysteries and riddles
  • Confront and ultimately dismantle Team Rocket
  • Collect 8 Gym Badges
  • Challenge the Bosha League

Future versions will expand the narrative acknowledging events beyond the Bosha Region, including the Ocrat Region and an additional archipelago filled with new Gyms.

  • Enhanced Pokédex System: Planned ~250 catchable Pokémon with movepools based on Generation V/VI and rewritten Pokédex entries with added lore and humor.
  • Future Region Expansion: Planned addition of the Ocrat Region and an island archipelago containing 4 extra Gyms.
  • Massive Money Cap: Players can hold up to 999,999,999 PokéDollars.
