Story Overview
The story begins as Bowser steals the Star Rod, granting him invincibility. Mario and Luigi are invited to Princess Peach’s party, only to see the castle lifted into the sky by Bowser. After losing in battle and falling into a forest, Mario awakens in Goomba Village, guided by a Goomba Girl. The seven Star Spirits communicate to Mario that he must journey to the Star Summit to learn how to defeat Bowser and restore peace.
Throughout the adventure, players interact with classic Paper Mario characters and new allies, recruit over 100 unique partners, and face numerous sub-bosses and rival characters. The story is divided into eight chapters and includes both main and side quests that expand on the Paper Mario universe while retaining Pokémon-style RPG battles.
