About This ROM Hack
PokéLand 0 is an episodic Pokémon fan project that blends elements from classic Pokémon games with adventure mechanics inspired by The Legend of Zelda. The project spans several releases, beginning as a Pokémon FireRed ROM hack and later expanding into written story content and a full fangame.
The core gameplay combines traditional Pokémon mechanics, such as turn-based battles, with exploration-focused elements, including puzzle dungeons, side quests, and story-driven progression. Players explore the world of Xenos while solving dungeon puzzles, battling enemies, completing side activities, and uncovering a larger narrative about the conflict between light and darkness.
Unlike many Pokémon ROM hacks that focus primarily on battles or difficulty, PokéLand 0 is heavily story-oriented. Each episode contributes to a larger narrative arc and offers roughly 7–9 hours of gameplay, depending on how much optional content the player completes.
Story Overview
PokéLand 0 follows a group of teenage Pokémon who grew up as orphans and decide to leave their home to discover the world they live in. The main characters — Chimchar, Riolu, Piplup, and Torchic — begin their journey curious about the planet and its many inhabitants.
However, their adventure quickly becomes more than simple exploration. A dangerous force known as Darkness threatens the planet, putting the world and its people at risk. Despite their young age and uncertain beginnings, the group decides they cannot ignore the danger.
As they travel across the planet Xenos, the team encounters new allies, powerful opponents, and mysterious events connected to the spreading darkness. Along the way, they help towns, explore ancient locations, and face challenges that test their courage and friendship.
Their journey becomes a battle not only to understand their world, but also to protect it.
