About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Crystal PLUS is a gameplay refinement hack that aims to improve the original Pokémon Crystal without changing what made Generation II memorable. Instead of introducing new Pokémon, regions, mechanics, moves, or types, the hack focuses on polishing the existing game by improving its balance, encounter variety, and overall pacing.
The developer created the project with players in mind who have already completed Pokémon Crystal multiple times and simply want a more enjoyable replay. Many of Crystal's original limitations—such as poor Pokémon availability, uneven level progression, version-exclusive Pokémon, and trade evolutions—have been addressed while keeping the core adventure intact.
Unlike Kaizo or challenge hacks, Crystal PLUS is not designed to be frustratingly difficult. Battles become more engaging through better trainer teams and improved progression rather than unfair mechanics. The overall experience remains faithful to the original Johto and Kanto adventure while giving players many more viable team-building options.
Although still labeled as a beta, the game is fully playable through the battle against Red. The developer has also expressed plans to expand the post-game in future versions by making legendary Pokémon such as the Legendary Birds, Mewtwo, and Mew obtainable.

- Evolution Stones Sold in Goldenrod: Evolution stones are available for purchase at the Goldenrod Department Store, making stone evolutions far more accessible.
- Trade Evolutions Removed: Pokémon that originally required trading now evolve through level-up or evolution stones. For example, Graveler evolves into Golem at Level 38.
- Completely New Rival Team: The rival's team has been redesigned to provide a fresh experience for returning players.
- Updated In-Game Trades: NPC trades have been completely reworked with new Pokémon exchanges.
- Expanded HM Fly Compatibility: Nearly every Pokémon with wings can now learn HM Fly, increasing team flexibility during exploration.
- Faithful Generation II Gameplay: No new Pokémon, moves, types, or battle mechanics have been added, preserving the classic Generation II feel.
