About This ROM Hack
Sburbmon is a Homestuck-inspired ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that transforms nearly every aspect of the original game into a crossover experience based on Andrew Hussie's webcomic. Instead of simply replacing sprites or dialogue, the hack aims to look, sound, and feel as much like Homestuck as possible while still playing like a Pokémon game.
You begin your journey in Maple Valley, taking control of one of two versions of Andrew Hussie. Your goal is to collect unique Sburbmon, battle your rival Ryan North, and earn badges from Gyms scattered throughout the Dreambubbles. Nearly every part of the game has been customized, including the creatures, locations, items, music, interface, terminology, and dialogue.
Version 0.6.0.0 expands the adventure with the addition of Prospit, new Sburbmon, new evolution items, numerous gameplay improvements, quality-of-life updates, graphical polish, and many bug fixes. Although the project is still in development, it already offers a very different experience from a traditional Pokémon ROM hack.
Story Overview
Sburbmon replaces Pokémon FireRed's story with an entirely original adventure inspired by Homestuck.
You begin in Maple Valley as one of two versions of Andrew Hussie, setting out to collect powerful Sburbmon while competing against your rival Ryan North. Throughout your journey you'll travel across the Dreambubbles, challenge specialized Sburbmon Gyms, discover unusual locations inspired by Homestuck, and continue expanding your collection of unique creatures.
Version 0.6.0.0 also introduces the city of Prospit, allowing players to explore new areas, battle through the White Queen's Lair, uncover additional secrets, and discover new Sburbmon hidden throughout the world.

- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Running starts immediately, interface improvements have been added, item names and icons have been updated, and many menus have received polish.
- Custom Audio & Visuals: Includes updated sprites, polished battle themes, new sound effects such as realistic horse sounds, and Homestuck-themed interface replacements like the Boondollar currency symbol.
