About This ROM Hack
Pokémon The Fall of Heroes is a story-driven ROM hack set in the official Pokémon world, acting as a continuation of events from Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn after the original games. Instead of reinventing everything, the hack builds on familiar foundations while introducing a deeper narrative, returning iconic characters, and a morality-based decision system.
The project is clearly designed for players who enjoy the classic Pokémon structure—Gym Badges, League progression, and rival battles—while experiencing a more layered story. What sets it apart is its focus on a post-hero era, where legendary trainers like Red, Gold, and Brendan have already shaped the world, leaving a new generation to live in their shadow.
Another standout feature is the inclusion of a good/evil alignment system, which influences side events and how the player interacts with the world. Combined with anime-inspired elements, expanded mechanics, and character-driven storytelling, this hack aims to feel like a natural evolution of the original Pokémon universe rather than a complete overhaul.
Story Overview
Ten years after the events of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon Ruby, the world remembers the legendary heroes who saved their regions. Red stopped Team Rocket in Kanto, Brendan prevented a climate disaster in Hoenn, and Gold ensured peace in Johto by halting Team Rocket’s resurgence.
These heroes became symbols of greatness, inspiring a new generation of trainers across the world.
You play as [PLAYER], a young trainer from Ciudad Verde, who dreams of surpassing these legends. Alongside rivals like Hoja and Gary, you begin your journey during what appears to be a golden age of peace, aiming to conquer multiple regions and become a Pokémon Master.
However, things are not as peaceful as they seem.
Giovanni was never captured, and authorities fear Team Rocket may return. In response, the police have begun a ruthless witch hunt across Kanto, abusing their power in the name of security.
As your journey unfolds, you will face moral dilemmas, choosing whether to follow the law or stand with the people. These choices can influence your path, your relationships, and ultimately the kind of trainer you become.
What begins as a classic Pokémon adventure slowly transforms into a story about legacy, corruption, and the fall of heroes.
