About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Velvet is a FireRed-based ROM hack set in the original-created Toa Region, featuring a mix of classic Pokémon structure with modern gameplay systems and expanded world design.
The player begins their journey after moving from Sinnoh, with the story quickly introducing a wider regional mystery involving teleportation technology, ancient Pokémon sanctuaries, and an organization called Team Umbra. A scientist named Jesse plays a major role in developing teleporters that allow travel between areas and even time-linked locations like Ventoire Isle.
The hack focuses heavily on exploration, modern battle mechanics, and world-building, while still keeping the traditional Gym → Elite Four structure of Pokémon FireRed.
Key modern additions include Fairy type, Physical/Special/Status split, IV display, reusable TMs, and improved encounter systems, making it a hybrid of classic GBA gameplay and later-generation mechanics.
Story Overview
You begin your adventure after moving from Sinnoh to the Toa Region. Your energetic friend Jade has already started her journey, while Professor Sugi researches why so many Pokémon are drawn to this region and the mysteries behind evolution.
A scientist named Jesse has developed teleportation technology that plays a major role in the region. However, a secretive group known as Team Umbra aims to steal this technology to access sanctuaries and capture Legendary Pokémon.
As you travel across cities, caves, forests, and even time-warped islands, you uncover the truth behind the teleporters, legendary habitats, and Team Umbra’s ambitions.
