About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Super Rising Thunder is a radical reinterpretation of Pokémon gameplay built on Pokémon Ruby, but it does not behave like a traditional Pokémon journey at all.

Instead of Gyms, Poké Balls, or Pokémon Centers, the game builds an entirely different experience: a post-apocalyptic survival RPG where Pokémon exist in a broken, ruined world shaped by catastrophic “Flashes.”

The world is described as a collapsed civilization where nature has reclaimed destroyed cities, and where surviving Pokémon have adapted into dangerous, unstable forms known as “Flash-born.”

You begin as a Pichu, a small and fragile protagonist chosen by a mysterious higher power after a tragic event. From there, the story evolves into a journey across a dying world filled with cryptic characters, emotional narrative arcs, and survival-focused gameplay systems.

Story Overview

You are born into a secluded forest village in a ruined world where civilization has collapsed. Legends speak of devastating Flashes that destroyed the old world, killing humans and Pokémon alike. After a personal tragedy, you are visited in a dream by a great Lord who entrusts you with the power to stop an evil lurking in the frozen North.

As a Pichu, you must navigate a dangerous post-apocalyptic world, gathering allies with unique abilities, confronting boss Pokémon, and uncovering the truth about the Flashes and the fate of humanity. The storyline explores themes of survival, teamwork, and the strength of a small soul facing overwhelming odds.

  • Custom Map Layouts: Towns and dungeons resemble hybrid PMD/Zelda-style designs with puzzles, mini-dungeons, and boss encounters.
