About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Sunset Orange is a GBA ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that takes players on an adventure through the Orange Archipelago, following events inspired by the anime, particularly Season 2, with some non-canon additions.

The player controls Ash Ketchum as he travels with Misty and Brock after receiving a mysterious task from Professor Oak. The story kicks off with a crash landing in a thunderstorm, caused by Team Rocket’s blimp, setting the stage for exploration, battles, and Pokémon captures across the Orange Islands.

The hack aims to stick close to the vanilla FireRed ROM, preserving core gameplay while adding anime-inspired content.

Story Overview

Ash Ketchum is summoned by Professor Oak to assist in retrieving a mysterious Poké Ball from the Orange Archipelago. After winning a lottery, Ash boards a blimp with Misty and Brock—ironically piloted by Team Rocket—and crashes during a thunderstorm.

The player’s adventure begins with exploration of the Orange Islands, battling trainers, encountering Pokémon from Gen I-IV, and participating in events inspired by the anime and Pokémon 2000 movie.
