About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Stone Dragon is a completed FireRed-based ROM hack that reimagines the classic Pokémon journey with a strong anime-inspired direction and modern-generation mechanics. While the structure resembles Kanto in layout, the entire world has been rebuilt with new cities, routes, gyms, and characters, making it feel familiar but still fresh.

One of the most unique aspects of this hack is that players can choose to begin their journey as Ash or Gary, directly tying the experience to iconic anime personalities. This alone sets the tone for a more character-driven adventure compared to traditional FireRed-style progression.

The hack also introduces a central legendary focus on Zekrom, integrating it into the main conflict of the story. Combined with updated visuals, expanded Pokémon availability, and Mega Evolution, Pokémon Stone Dragon aims to blend nostalgia with modern Pokémon mechanics in a complete, polished remake-style experience.

Because it is a completed project, it offers a more stable and fully playable structure compared to many experimental ROM hacks.

Story Overview

Your journey begins in Pokémon Village, where you visit Professor Oak’s laboratory to receive your first Pokémon. However, this adventure quickly grows beyond the typical gym challenge.

The villainous E.Rocket organization has captured the legendary Pokémon Zekrom, threatening the balance of the region. Your mission is to stop them and recover the legendary Dragon Pokémon before its power is misused.

Along the way, you will meet several characters inspired by the Pokémon anime, including Ash, Gary, and rivals like Paul. Although the region structure resembles Kanto in exploration flow, the storyline, gyms, badges, and leaders are completely original.
