About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Shiny Gold Sigma (SGS) is one of the most ambitious FireRed-based ROM hacks ever released. Built as an expanded remake of Johto, the project goes far beyond a simple Gold/Silver adaptation.
SGS includes Johto, Kanto, Orange Archipelago, Hoenn, and Battle Frontier, with over 900 Pokémon from Generations I to IX, including regional forms and modern legendaries. The goal is simple: deliver a complete, feature-packed Pokémon experience on GBA hardware, with modern mechanics and competitive systems fully integrated.
The hack has been updated over several years and is considered 100% functional by the developer.
Story Overview
The core narrative begins in Johto, inspired by the events of Pokémon Gold and Silver, but expanded with additional rivals, enhanced Gym Leaders, and extended story arcs.
After completing Johto, players can travel through:
- Kanto (with enhanced post-game content and Alolan forms)
- Orange Archipelago
- Hoenn
- Battle Frontier facilities
Leaders are stronger, rematches are available across regions, and new “Ex-Elites” raise the endgame difficulty.
Weather cycles, time systems, and region-hopping mechanics such as UltraFly expand the scale of the adventure far beyond a standard remake.
