About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Meta FireRed X and Y is an enhanced Pokémon FireRed ROM hack that retains the original Kanto storyline while introducing a wide range of modern Pokémon mechanics and visual upgrades inspired by later generations. The hack is divided into two versions, Meta FireRed X and Meta FireRed Y, mirroring the dual-version concept from the mainline Pokémon series.

The game focuses on modernizing FireRed without completely overhauling its identity. Players can expect Pokémon from Generation 1 through Generation 7, updated movepools, Mega Evolutions, legendary alternate forms, and numerous quality-of-life improvements that bring the experience closer to Nintendo DS-era Pokémon games.

Story Overview

The main storyline follows the events of Pokémon FireRed, with the player traveling through the Kanto region, challenging Gym Leaders, dismantling Team Rocket, and ultimately competing in the Pokémon League.

While the core plot remains intact, Meta FireRed X and Y introduces twists and subtle narrative changes through altered encounters, updated trainers, and enhanced progression systems. These adjustments refresh the journey without replacing the original structure that made FireRed a classic.
