About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Luria is a Pokémon GBA ROM hack developed primarily by Omega Zero, marking his third major ROM hacking project. Designed largely as a solo effort with limited beta-testing assistance, the hack focuses on delivering a traditional Pokémon experience enhanced with modern features, new audiovisual elements, and experimental mechanics.

Although early in development, Pokémon Luria aimed to modernize FireRed through updated music, ASM enhancements, and new exploration mechanics, while still maintaining the core gameplay loop familiar to long-time Pokémon fans.

Story Overview

Set ten years after the events of Pokémon FireRed, the world has once again fallen under threat.

A new evil organization has emerged with a singular and terrifying goal: to capture Mew, and eventually Mewtwo, using their powers to dominate the world. Legends tell that Mew only reveals itself to the purest of hearts, while Mewtwo appears only to those consumed by darkness—an ominous duality that defines the conflict ahead.

Your journey begins on the day Professor Gillian finally returns from her travels across the globe. She summons you and your rival, Tutai, to her laboratory, where three Pokémon and the necessary tools for catching Pokémon await. With the world on the brink of chaos, your adventure as a Pokémon Trainer begins in the unexplored Luria region.
