About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Legacy is a GBA ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that reimagines the Kanto region 10 years after the events of the original games. The hack incorporates Pokémon from Sinnoh and Unova, a new villain capable of manipulating time, and introduces a variety of modern mechanics and quality-of-life features. Players can experience a fresh storyline while revisiting the familiar Kanto setting with updated maps, new trainer classes, and custom sprites.

Key aspects of the hack include:

  • All-new story centered around stopping Mr. Time, a villain seeking world domination.
  • Day/Night system, bounty-hunting side quests, and multiple new areas.
  • Updated overworlds (OW), new tilesets, and sprite designs.
  • Fusion of Poké Center and Poké Mart into a B/W-style layout.
  • Starter Pokémon is Pichu, offering a unique challenge early in the game.

Story Overview

You begin your journey as a 16-year-old trainer in Viridian City. After receiving your first Pokémon from Professor Oak, you discover that the fate of Kanto rests in your hands. Over the years, Kanto has changed: Pallet Town has grown in fame thanks to Red and Blue, and Oak has retired, with Blue taking his place as Professor.

The central plot revolves around Mr. Time, a mysterious villain with the ability to control time. You cannot stop him alone; along your adventure, you must form a team, explore the reimagined Kanto, and complete side quests to gather allies. Along the way, players will face Gym Leaders, new challenges, and uncover secrets hidden throughout the region.
