About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Jupiter Version is a long-term ROM hacking project set in the original region of Sunen. It blends traditional Pokémon gameplay with heavy narrative experimentation, custom systems, and a strong emphasis on music, characters, and atmosphere.

Unlike standard Ruby-based hacks that only modify gameplay balance or regions, Jupiter introduces a highly customized experience that includes new instruments, expanded audio systems, and even experimental mechanics like telepathy between Pokémon and NPCs. The hack also integrates crossover-inspired storytelling elements, drawing thematic influence from Golden Sun while still remaining structurally a Pokémon adventure.

The player does not just explore a modified Hoenn-style world; instead, they are dropped into a completely reimagined setting tied to a broader mythological conflict involving portals, civilizations, and displaced characters from another world. The result is a more narrative-heavy and experimental Pokémon experience compared to typical GBA hacks.

At its core, the project is ambitious and modular, released in beta “versions” over time, with systems like Fakemon design, music implementation, and scripting evolving gradually across updates.

Story Overview

The story of Pokémon Jupiter Version begins in the ancient Mynoan Civilization, a world facing catastrophic destruction due to a massive flood known as the Deluge. As the civilization collapses, only the highest point of its capital remains above water.

Two figures, Ivan and a mysterious man named Charon, escape this dying world through a portal that transports them into the Pokémon universe. Before separation, Charon instructs Ivan to find him again, hinting at a larger unknown purpose behind their arrival.

Ivan awakens on Route 300 near Aleph Town, where he is discovered by Fabio Pink and taken in. Shortly after, he becomes involved in local events and meets a trainer named Rachel during a Pokémon attack incident. This encounter sets him on a journey that quickly expands beyond a simple regional adventure.

As Ivan travels through Sunen, he becomes entangled in a deeper mystery involving his origin, Charon’s disappearance, and the connection between the Mynoan world and the Pokémon world. Along the way, he encounters familiar archetypes, cameos, and myth-inspired characters, including leaders drawn from Golden Sun references.

The narrative gradually unfolds into a larger conflict involving legendary forces, hidden civilizations, and experimental Pokémon phenomena. The full story is intentionally fragmented across releases, encouraging exploration and discovery.
