About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Identity is a story-driven hack of Pokémon FireRed that places a strong emphasis on character development and an engaging narrative. It follows the journey of Id, a protagonist who wakes up in an unfamiliar location, discovering that their body has been replaced with mechanical parts. As Id escapes from their captors, they set out to uncover the mystery behind their transformation and the forces that are after them.

The hack is split into chapters, with Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 available in the demo, as well as a Mini-chapter that bridges the gap to Chapter 3, which is not yet available. The game is highly script and dialogue-heavy, making it ideal for players who enjoy narrative-rich Pokémon hacks.

Story Overview

The story begins in Auria City, where the region's 100th Pokémon League tournament is being held. During this event, the protagonist Id wakes up in an unfamiliar place and discovers that most of their body has been replaced with mechanical parts. In a panic, Id manages to escape from the lab, with the help of a mysterious woman, and steals a Pokémon to aid in the escape.

Id narrowly evades capture, sneaking aboard a ship that takes them away from the unknown lab. As Id continues their journey, they aim to return to their hometown or, at least, uncover the truth about their past.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this hack suitable for players who don't enjoy reading?
A: No. Pokémon Identity is heavily story-driven, and a significant amount of gameplay involves reading and following dialogue. If you're not a fan of narrative-heavy games, this might not be the best choice.

Q: Are there different story paths depending on the protagonist's gender?
A: While there are gender-specific pronouns in the dialogue, the overall story remains the same. The gender choice mainly affects character interactions and some dialogue.

Q: What is the role of Raine in the game?
A: Raine is Id's sister, but her role is still largely unknown in the demo. Future chapters may expand her story and involvement.

Q: How are evolutions handled in the game?
A: Evolution mechanics are standard for most Pokémon, but will be revamped for trade evolutions in future updates.

Q: Are there any legendary Pokémon in the demo?
A: Not in the demo. The game’s focus is on character development and the story, rather than legendary encounters. Legendary Pokémon may play a larger role in future releases.
