About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Emerald Omega is a full-featured adaptation of Drayano’s Fire Red Omega for the Emerald platform. The hack integrates expanded Pokémon availability, modern moves from Gen IV–VI, Physical/Special split, and numerous gameplay enhancements while keeping the core Emerald storyline intact.

It is designed for challenging gameplay, strategic battles, and deep customization, offering both casual and competitive players a new and polished Emerald experience.

This version was recognized as Hack of the Year 2014 (Sideshow Showcase) and introduces 450 Pokémon, custom movesets, and quality-of-life improvements for veterans and newcomers alike.

Story Overview

The main story follows the original Emerald plot, with the player traveling through Hoenn, challenging Gym Leaders, opposing Team Magma and Aqua, and ultimately facing the Elite Four and Champion.

Enhancements include:

  • Expanded storyline elements borrowed from Fire Red Omega
  • Post-game content, such as a new dungeon, Cave of Memories
  • Enhanced boss fights and rematches, where leaders and trainers scale in difficulty
  • Red as the final challenge at the endgame

While the narrative remains largely faithful to Emerald, the gameplay is more strategic and competitive, reflecting modern battle mechanics and an updated Pokémon roster.

Q: Can I use all Pokémon from Gen 4 and beyond?
A: Yes, the Pokédex is expanded to 450 Pokémon, including many later-generation additions.

Q: Are trade evolutions still required?
A: No, trade evolutions and other restrictive evolution methods are removed or replaced.

Q: Why is this hack so difficult?
A: Trainers use optimized teams with EVs, IVs, and competitive AI, and battle resources are limited.

Q: Who is this hack NOT for?
A: Players looking for a casual or relaxed Emerald experience will likely find this too punishing.
