About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Stardrop Version is a story-heavy GBA ROM hack that builds its identity around Suicune and the concept of purity versus corruption in the Pokémon world. Unlike standard Pokémon journeys, this hack leans heavily into lore, mythology, and emotional storytelling, using Suicune as a central symbolic force that maintains balance in the world.

The world is described as one where humanity and powerful Pokémon both drift between corruption and purity, and Suicune acts as a guardian that purifies the world when necessary. Over time, as corruption begins to rise again, the legend of Suicune becomes active once more, setting the stage for the player’s journey.

You begin as a young child living a normal life, but everything changes when your father—an expert researcher of the legendary beasts—believes he has finally located Suicune after decades of study. From this moment, your life shifts into a full-scale adventure involving legendary Pokémon, ancient balance, and hidden truths about the world.

The hack is still in Alpha 1, meaning many systems and visuals are unfinished or subject to change, but the core identity is already clear:
a narrative-driven Pokémon experience centered around discovery, legends, and world transformation.

Story Overview

In this world, nothing is truly pure. Every being carries darkness within them—except one: Suicune.

Suicune, alongside Entei and Raikou, was born as part of the legendary trio known as the “legendary dogs.” However, Suicune stands apart as a guardian of purity. According to legend, it has watched over the world since its creation, purifying corruption and restoring balance wherever it spreads.

When humanity became corrupt, Suicune intervened, purifying hearts. When powerful Pokémon attempted to seize control of civilization, Suicune defeated them and sealed them away in hidden prisons. Because of this, Suicune became both revered and feared, as its power was said to be capable of transforming the world itself.

Another legend states that Suicune can purify even fatal, polluted water into clean life-giving water, and that anyone who captures it may ascend to godlike power. Because of this myth, many who sought it were driven into madness.

For centuries, Suicune and the other legendary beasts remained dormant, as the world was relatively stable—until corruption begins to rise again.

The story begins with a young child living a quiet life with their father, a world-renowned researcher specializing in the legendary beasts. One day, the father discovers something incredible: after 20 years of research, he believes he has finally located Suicune.

Excited and determined, he leaves to pursue this discovery, assigning the player a simple errand before departure. However, this moment marks the beginning of something far greater. The player is unknowingly pulled into a journey that will uncover ancient truths, shifting timelines, and the real nature of balance in the world of Pokémon Stardrop.
