About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Hollow Mysteries is a difficulty-focused ROM hack designed for players who feel modern Pokémon games are too easy. Inspired by competitive battling knowledge from Generation V, this hack emphasizes strategy, planning, and traditional mechanics.

The game intentionally avoids many modern conveniences and battle changes, creating a “what-if” Pokémon experience without the Physical/Special split. While challenging, the game is not designed specifically for Nuzlocke runs, though players may attempt one at their own risk.

Story Overview

The game takes place in the Ontak Region, a once peaceful and forgotten land now hiding a dangerous conflict beneath its calm surface. While life appears normal above ground, an unseen war is being fought in the underworld.

On a stormy night, a child is born in the Southern Plateau—an event followed by unnatural changes across the region. As a new trainer, you begin your journey unaware of the deeper forces shaping Ontak, driven by a single goal: to become the very best, while uncovering the dark mysteries hidden below.
