About This ROM Hack
Pokémon Fuligin is a fan-made FireRed hack that flips the classic Pokémon narrative: instead of playing as a heroic Trainer, you rise through the ranks of Team Rocket. The game blends familiar FireRed mechanics with a story-focused campaign featuring new Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and side quests, offering roughly 30 hours of gameplay.
In Fuligin, players experience Kanto-style towns and routes while advancing the story from a villainous perspective. Your journey begins in Alora, a small town with its own Professor Oak lab, and quickly escalates into criminal exploits under the guidance of your brother and Team Rocket. As you progress, you climb the ranks and ultimately aim to lead Team Rocket, all while battling Pokémon bent on world domination.
The hack includes all Pokémon from Generations I–III, removes trade-based evolution requirements, and gradually increases difficulty to keep players challenged throughout the story.
Story Overview
You start as a young boy or girl living with your mom and brother in Alora. Shortly after receiving your first Pokémon and Pokédex, your brother’s involvement with Team Rocket drags you into trouble. Initially hesitant, you eventually join Team Rocket and work your way up the ranks.
The story introduces multiple missions, side quests, and interactions with criminal and heroic characters alike. Meanwhile, two powerful Pokémon terrorize the population, adding tension and urgency to your rise within Team Rocket.
