About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Emerald Party Randomizer Plus (PEPR+) is an advanced evolution of Googleben’s original Party Randomizer, originally created for streamer SmallAnt. Unlike traditional randomizers, this hack randomizes your entire party at the start of every battle, while still preserving progression, balance, and strategic depth.

PEPR+ enhances the concept by introducing level-based evolution logic, smarter move selection, controlled legendary odds, TM/HM influence, and egg move integration, ensuring the game remains fair, engaging, and skill-based rather than pure chaos.

This hack is ideal for players seeking a highly replayable, unpredictable challenge without sacrificing long-term progression.

Story Overview

Pokémon Emerald Party Randomizer Plus retains the original Pokémon Emerald story set in the Hoenn region.

There are no narrative changes. The core gameplay twist lies entirely in the battle system: every battle reshuffles your party into different Pokémon, forcing constant adaptation while still rewarding smart team-building decisions through item management and progression.

Key Features

  • Party Randomization Per Battle: Every Pokémon in your party transforms into a random species at the start of each battle
  • Progression-Preserved Stats: EVs, IVs, HP %, EXP %, shiny status, Pokérus, contest stats, and nicknames persist across randomizations
  • Level-Based Evolution Logic: Pokémon evolve within level ranges—low levels stay unevolved, high levels guarantee final evolutions
  • Controlled Legendary Odds: Legendary Pokémon are extremely rare early-game and become equally likely after level 40
  • Expanded Level-Up Movepools: Pokémon select moves from a wider pool, including previous evolutions for stone-based evolutions
  • Egg Move Integration: Pokémon can receive Egg Moves, with chances increasing by level and capping at level 20
  • TM/HM Influence System: Owned TMs and HMs influence possible movesets, allowing indirect player control
  • HM Storage System: HMs can be deposited into the PC to remove them from the random move pool
  • Smart Move Replacement Logic: Weak, duplicate-type, or low-impact moves are replaced first
  • Smeargle Special Handling: Smeargle receives fully randomized movesets based on expected Sketch usage
  • Ability Randomization: Pokémon abilities are randomized each time they transform
  • Surf Safety System: Using an HM re-randomizes the party to prevent being stranded

Known Bugs & Issues

  • There is a small chance that a non-shiny Pokémon appears shiny for a single battle
  • Combining PEPR+ with other hacks (such as Physical/Special Split) may fail unless merged via source code
  • Randomized abilities may occasionally create unintended difficulty spikes

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often does my party get randomized?
A: At the start of every battle, including wild encounters and trainer fights.

Q: Do my Pokémon lose progress when they change species?
A: No. EVs, IVs, EXP percentage, HP percentage, and other attributes are preserved.

Q: Can I influence what moves my Pokémon get?
A: Yes. The TMs and HMs in your bag directly influence the possible movesets.

Q: Are Legendary Pokémon possible early game?
A: Yes, but extremely rare. Their odds increase with level and normalize after level 40.

Q: Does this hack change the story or map?
A: No. The original Pokémon Emerald story is unchanged.

Q: Is this compatible with other Emerald hacks?
A: Only with Universal Pokémon Randomizer. Other hacks require source-level merging.

Q: Can I softlock due to missing Surf Pokémon?
A: No. Using an HM re-randomizes your party to prevent progression blocks.
