About This ROM Hack

Pokémon DPS Ultimate is a school-themed Pokémon ROM hack based on Pokémon Sapphire. Instead of beginning your adventure as a traditional Pokémon Trainer, you play as a student attending a Pokémon primary school, where academic progress replaces Gym Badges as the main form of advancement.

The game blends exploration, battles, sidequests, and secret locations with a humorous and unconventional setting inspired by a real-life school environment. While the school is the core focus, players can eventually explore Hoenn, the Safari Zone, the Battle Tower, and legendary locations through hidden access points.

Story Overview

You are a student enrolling in the Primary Poké-School, where you must explore the campus, challenge fellow students, teachers, and staff, and earn good marks. These marks are essential to qualify for the final exam, which serves as a major progression milestone.

As your journey continues, secrets hidden within and beyond the school unlock access to new regions, rare Pokémon, legendary encounters, and post-game content across Hoenn.

Key Features

  • School-Based Adventure: The entire main storyline takes place within and around a Pokémon school environment instead of traditional Gyms.
  • Real-World Inspired School Design: The school map has been redesigned to closely resemble the DPS STS School in Dhaka.
  • Multiple Starter Choices: Instead of a single starter selection, you receive Pokémon from different NPCs, including Alakazam, Eevee, and Mareep.
  • High-Level Gameplay Start: Most Pokémon encountered range from level 40–50, allowing immediate team customization.
  • Sidequests & Scripted Events: Optional quests and scripted interactions add depth and exploration beyond battles.
  • Modified Pokémon Data: Some Pokémon, moves, abilities, and text formatting have been altered for consistency and polish.
  • Reusable TMs & Hidden Items: Evolution Stones, Poké Balls, and reusable TMs are hidden across multiple zones.
  • Battle Tower Access: A secret location allows access to the Battle Tower with level 50 or level 100 Pokémon.
  • Safari Zone Integration: Safari Zone is accessible through a secret location and provides 30 Safari Balls per visit.
  • Early Legendary Encounters: Rayquaza can be caught early by accessing Sky Pillar through hidden routes.
  • Expanded Exploration Areas: Grass, Fire, Water, and Campus zones each feature distinct Pokémon encounters.
  • Post-Game Hoenn Access: After discovering a secret location, players can freely explore the Hoenn region.
  • Starter Item Bonuses: Starter Pokémon hold Rare Candies and an Amulet Coin for easier training.
  • Text & UI Improvements: Capitalization has been reduced across moves, items, abilities, and battle text.
  • Improved Connectivity & Stability: Map connections and progression routes have been fixed and refined.
