About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Dark Knight is a feature-heavy FireRed improvement hack focused on bringing modern Pokémon mechanics and quality-of-life upgrades into the Generation III engine. While the story currently follows vanilla FireRed, the hack is designed as a sandbox-style experience with randomized encounters, modern battle systems, and numerous Gen 4–6 inspired features.

This project serves as the creator’s first ROM hack, built to deliver a fresh and flexible Pokémon experience rather than a story-driven overhaul.

Story Overview

At its current development stage, Pokémon Dark Knight follows the original Pokémon FireRed storyline. Players begin their journey in Kanto, challenge the familiar Gyms, confront Team Rocket, and aim to become the Pokémon League Champion.

A new story is planned, but as of Alpha v1.0, narrative changes are minimal and the focus is placed on gameplay systems and mechanical depth.
