About This ROM Hack

Pokémon Aurora is a FireRed-based ROM hack that introduces a completely new region called Zyphre, featuring custom maps, tilesets, scripts, and gameplay improvements. While inspired by classic Pokémon mechanics, Aurora modernizes gameplay through mechanical fixes and quality-of-life enhancements, making it both familiar and refreshing.

The hack is currently in beta, with development progress covering up to the fifth Gym as of version 1.3.1.

Story Overview

Set one year after the events of Pokémon FireRed, the story takes place in the isolated Zyphre Region. You begin your journey after receiving a rare Dratini from your grandparents, marking the start of your Pokémon adventure.

As you travel across Zyphre challenging Gym Leaders, a dangerous threat emerges—Team Rocket has returned. This time, their ambitions are greater than before, aiming to infiltrate and seize control of the Elite Four and the entire region. It’s up to you to stop their rise and restore peace to Zyphre.

Key Features

  • Completely New Region (Zyphre): Explore a fully custom-made region with unique towns, routes, and environments.
